Meet the Three Women Running to Flip Colorado Blue
Goodbye, gridlock. Hello, progressive legislation.
If you ask us, one of the most exciting parts of the Blue Wave is seeing a more diverse — and, as a result, representative — group of candidates running across the country.
Women, in particular, are running for office in record-breaking numbers. It’s electrifying, and that’s why we’re excited to announce our newest group of Colorado candidates.
These three women have seen how the Republican-controlled state senate prevents the state legislature from passing progressive policies. They are ready to flip the Colorado State Senate and take the lead on environmental issues, public education, and improving quality of life for everyone across the Centennial State. Meet Tammy, Jessie, and Faith.
The Public Education Activist
For nearly 20 years, Tammy Story has advocated for stronger public education in Colorado. She has advised school board candidate campaigns, proposed education ballot initiatives, and coordinated a successful bond and tax campaign to fund improvements in the Jefferson County school district. And during her time on the county’s Associations Legislative Forum, Tammy worked directly with Colorado State House legislators on education policy.
Thanks to her extensive education policy experience, Tammy can help the Colorado State Senate work productively with teachers — a welcome change from Republican-proposed bans on teacher strikes. As the Democratic candidate for Senate District 16, which spans four counties in central Colorado, Tammy also wants to bring her passion for advocacy to improving transportation and environmental protection across the state.
The People’s Champion
Jessie Danielson has fought for Coloradans throughout her career. She has spent the last four years in the Colorado House of Representatives at the forefront of many issues, including equal pay for equal work, LGBTQIA rights, and water conservation. Before that, Jessie worked with America Votes to make it easier for Coloradans to exercise their right to vote.
Now, as the Democratic candidate for Jefferson County’s Senate District 20, Jessie plans to improve public education, protect the environment, and create good-paying jobs throughout the state.
The Community Leader
Colorado State Representative Faith Winter knows how to inspire Coloradans to take action within their communities. Before serving in elected office, Faith worked at a homeless shelter and environmental organizations based in Colorado. She has also trained women to run for office with The White House Project, Emerge Colorado, and, currently, VoteRunLead.
Faith is the Democratic candidate for Senate District 24 in Adams County. Once in office, she wants to prioritize passing paid family leave, climate change, and affordable housing policies.
